I have basically the same specs, but with a 1.6GHz Pentium M. |
Maybe I notice it more because I am currently using a brutally slow network. |

I was upgraded to a 3 Mbps/384 Kbps plan a couple of months ago with AT&T. I know it's not the fastest out there, but it's like heaven to me. |

Safari runs very fast on my AMD Athlon system that was relegated to being a doorstop two years ago. It almost makes me feel like switching back. |

Must be a different AMD Athlon than mine, (850, with 512 mb memory) won't even load! _________________ ___________________Jim©

It's an Athlon XP 2200 with 1GB of RAM. Safari loads in like 5-7 seconds. Page loads are super fast. The system was even bogged down with system updates installing in the background. I haven't turned it on in a while, so there was a bunch of them. |

Yeah, that's a quite different system, anyway I don't use it, my 9 year old sons uses it for his Runescape and such Gives me more work than my Apple machine! Maybe it's time to find a nice old G4 machine for him, though he won't be able to play certain games... Only online stuff... _________________ ___________________Jim©

I downloaded and installed Safari on our main P.C macine running XP, but did not install it on our Mac. It has been used extensively on the P.C. after it was installed, and has one major hiccup, it hangs up on secured sites and has to be closed and restarted . Outside of that it is stable on this machine and renders graphics quicker than explorer. The apple graphics system (hardware or software) has always been ahead of the P.C., past or present, they are crisper and faster.
It was not downloaded for our Mini, I'll wait until the leopard upgrade and get it instead. The mini will be upgraded to leopard this fall, our power requirements are not that high, and this is what the grandchildren voted for instead of the P.C's in our house.
Personally, I do not care one way or the other since we have both platforms in our house. But my wallet does care and the cost to upgrade to Vista is high for the version my wife wants. A friend of mine has Vista Ultimate and said his needs at least 3 gig to function properly, two or less makes his machine hang up for lack of resources. He has a high end Intel chip.
It is good as always to here from all of you and please take care. |
