A dynamic FSB. It's variable to conserve energy. Though it still tops out at 800MHz.

haha I start work on monday lol, Im going to work as many hours as possible. And we got red bull us motogp coming up and last year I worked 100 hours that week

| It looks like the Santa Rosa platform and LED screens are giving the new models another hour or so of reported battery life. I don't know what other people were expecting, but that seems like a nice gain to me. |

Seems odd timing to release these today with WWDC coming up next week. So, we had the official announcement of the iPhone yesterday, this today, is there more instore for tomorrow and the rest of the week?
I don't usually keep on top of Apple's new releases as much as I have since joining this site. Is the week before WWDC usually a big week for announcements? I know the week of is usually pretty slow. |

I think they timed this MacBook Pro update with the iPod deal for college students. WWDC will probably just focus on Leopard. I guess new iMacs and a Mac mini update are possibilities too. I don't think anything else will happen this week. |

| It's good to see that your getting more "bang for your buck" with Apple portables. Since the specs on this new MacBook Pro are great, having this laptop start at $1999 is a really good deal to me. |

That's the big thing for me - perfect for running Parallels! There are Windows applications that I absolutely have to have for my work and for college and I don't like running XP with anything less than 2 gigs. I am SO excited about this upgrade. I still have some gripes (2 USB ports?? plus the dumb hinge design that doesn't do a full 180-degree bend), but overall it is exactly what I want. 100% switch here I come!  |

Maybe I don't understand because I don't use my Powerbook mobilly (is that a word???) much. But why is 'only' 2 USB ports on a portable such a big deal? I've seen a few people mention it already. On the road, I can't imagine having that many devices to plug in. And in desktop mode, this shouldn't be an issue because a hub can always be added.
Yes, I do realize that most of us use more than 2 USB devices at once. I do as well. This is why I have a 7-port USB hub on my desk that I use with my Powerbook with 2 USB ports and my Mini with 3 USB ports. I also have a 5-port firewire hub. Yes, more ports are always good. And having so many ports available to completely eliminate the need for hubs would be magnificent - but unrealistic. I just don't understand why this is a concern in a portable.  |

Apple is working hard at being unpredictable. They have been releasing products at strange times with no announcements for the past 1-2 years. |

I have an old Dell Inspiron with 4 USB ports if anyone is interested in trading up. 
These new MacBook Pros are pretty sweet. Just wish I could afford one. Is anyone else surprised about them skipping on an LED screen for the 17" model. That's a little shocking. |

I can't say I'm surprised, because I don't know the reasoning behind it. It could be technical, supply, marketing or other. Maybe they still have quite a few 17" models using traditional backlighting still in inventory. |

Woo! I can finally go out and get one!!!!
I've been holding back for so long now, but i can buy it now, WOOO!
I'm definately getting the 15inch 2.4GHz model. Its gonna kick ass! All i'll have to do is wait until saturday to go to the Apple store and get it, but i'm scared that who ever serves me will stroke the MacBook Pro's box, it happened to my friend when he got his MacBook last week 
Though anyone here a bit dissapointed that they didn't update the design, i would think Johnathan Ives could of thought of somethiing amazing as he does.
