NewerTech today announced Guardian MAXimus, a new FireWire and USB2 External RAID 1 Storage Solution for consumers and professional users. Guardian MAXimus is an external storage solution that works with any computer that has a FireWire 400, FireWire 800, or USB2 interface. It provides "live activity" backup/data redundancy via RAID 1 hardware mirroring, so that in the unlikely event of a hard drive failure its uninterrupted full data accessibility RAID-1 redundancy will ensure that there is no data loss. Convenient front panel LEDs display drive access and status information. Guardian MAXimus is available immediately in five pre-configured 7200RPM solutions, from 250GB to 1.0TB, priced starting at $319.99. An "Add Your Own Drives" kit is also available for $179.99

- Up to 64MB of drive cache (32MB per drive)
- Custom Oxford 924 Based Bridge Solution

You know what they say, black is the new silver. Laughing

I'm pretty impressed with the fetures of this external after reading more about it. I would feel as snug as a bug in a rug with RAID 1, a disk 2 shadow and Time Machine. The auto-rebuild feature would be nice to have too.

Yeah, they are a bit pricey. I guess you have to consider that two drives are being used. No doubt that makes them a little more expensive.

Even Dell, HP and some of the other Windows box makers went with white for a while. It looks like they are all heading back to black though.
