Mad Has anyone here ever looked for a Powerbook or Apple product on Ebay? I have ran across a few in the last few days ( getting the bug again, and my mini isn't even here yet ) and their are some people posting Brand New 17" Powerbooks still in box unopened for anywhere from $600.00 to $1000.00
The kicker is they only accept instant wire transfer! I have contacted a few of them, and I got an Identical email from two different locations (they are in Spain and such). I emailed one of them back and asked him how it is that he can sell a brand new Powerbook that is selling all around ebay for $2000-$2400.00, Anyway, I told him I was contacting ebay about him and told him I might even forward it to the FBI ( I was just yanking his chain ), next thing ya know, his listing is gone. I told him it was people like him that make it hard to do business on Ebay. I read some where that they are offering a product they don't even have, they get your wire transfer and you never receive the product because they don't have one. But this guy had a picture of the Powerbook box in what looked like an apartment, so he may have bought one to do the scam (he said he had three). Buyers Beware!!! I know my wife would kick the living stuff outta me if I buy another computer, but if I could buy a new or same as new 17" Powerbook for a grand or less....I would risk the beating! Wink

Another good thing to beware of is people just selling the box for Apple products. Somebody was selling just a powerbook box and even put that in bold at the top of the listing (though not in the title). It ended up going for a pretty penny, maybe a couple of hundred dollars.

That wasn't a scam, but make sure to read everything on eBay. And when it comes to Apple, if it's too good to be true, it ALWAYS is.

Wire transfers out of the US almost always equal bad news.

I got burned one time when buying a DV camera online a few years ago. I hated that it happened but I've learned from my mistake and I am much more responsible now when making purhcases online.
