I'm not one to start rumors, but since the rumor about a Rev B Mac Mini is flying around here, I thought I would share an e-mail that I just got from my local Apple reseller.
Mac Mini Sale
We have a limited amount of Mac Minis here that must go by Friday, July 22nd. We have reduced the price on the 1.25GHz Mac Mini to $469 and the 1.42GHz Mac Mini down to $569. (On existing inventory only.) These machines come with Mac OS 10.3 Panther.
*For only $10 you can upgrade to Tiger.

HMMMMM....... I wonder why they want to unload them so fast, perhaps they want to make room for new Minis  I guess we will find out soon.

They might just want to get rid of all the Minis that don't come with Tiger preinstalled.

Cool. Is this a national chain? Maybe they just want to dump out the old Panther machines. Apple has to update the Mac mini soon. It seems like a lot of poeple holding off their purchase waiting for the update.

Perhaps, but the thing that makes me wonder is that they want them gone by Friday? It might just be a sales tactic, but they usually don't operate that way. We also have the "real Apple Store" in town too, so they usually bend over backwards to keep their customers happy.

No, this is a local independant Apple Reseller. I purchased my PowerBook and PowerMac from them.

I was going to mention the must go date of June 22. That part seems fishy to me! This will surely add fuel to the rumor fires that an update is coming next week.

Yes, their RAM is also a little bit pricey and they would charge you extra to install it. If you want 512MB and don't care to do the work yourself, I would stick with the Apple Store.

bringing it down to $469 doesn't actually seem like a good deal, do the math, theyre probly gonna add 512mb ram to the new one (if they actually are making a new one) it would be $519 even with the discount for an older model, plus they might have other goodies on the new ones, why pay MORE when you might get LESS?

I guess the thing to do would be to see if the Mini starts showing up on sale at other sellers websites.

The deal really isn't that great. I've seen $50 dollar rebates at PC Connection and Best Buy. I think it's the urgency of the message that's alarmed bsnoel.

When did Apple drop the RAM prices for the Mini? 512MB is only $50.00 and 1GB is now "only" $225?

A really long time ago. They also dropped the price for the KBM set at the same time I believe.

RevB rumors started the day the mini was announced. If what you say is true, Rev C rumors start this Friday.
