Can anyone confirm AVI H.264 with AC3 doesn't work.

I did a small test and it works. Try installing the A52Codec if you haven't already.

I'm doing a sample rip now and my mini is acting weird!

First, I'm a CD1.66, 2GB of RAM, and having it save the file to my firewire drive.

I pulled up istatpro, and my CPU usage is SOLID, and my fan is running at 2749 RPM, and it running at 63/69 degrees!!

To the best of my knowledge, she's never run that hot before!!

It's really a processor intensive app rather RAM. At least your lucky to have a fast processor compared to PPC. What's the average frame rate for ripping?

Yes I have the A52Codec, It turned out to be just that one (first) rip that had that particular issue. I have since done a few test rips of just a couple of chapters and it worked so I don't know what the problem was. However on trying to do a full movie HandBrake stopped reading from the DVD but only after it had been running for over 2 hours doing the first pass and it never started back up. It's buggy, Im just going to leave it.

I hate to burst everones bubbles but handbrake already does chapters the catch is you have to use the mpeg 4 in front row in order to select chapters using the apple remote

the really neat feature is the dolby digital support really

and also on your dvd movie issue certain dvd movies contain arcss encryption and cannot be backed up to mpeg 4 so you will have some issues

Before this update it didnt do chapters.

Its called arccos encryption. And Mac the ripper gets rid of it if the OP would like to use it.

Chapters do not work in FrontRow and it does not have DolbyDigital support, Just Dolby ProLogic.

From the Handbrake forums, it sounds like all you need to do is change the filename extension from .mp4 to .m4v in order to make the chapters work in Front Row.

That is true. You just replace .mp4 with .m4v at the end of your destination. Here are the settings:

You can also use AVC/H.264 Video / AAC Audio.

By the way, it works great on the TV too!

What settings did you use? The iPod can be fairly picky about what it will play.
