This will drive me nuts. I need Mac news, not rumors etc. The only thing I'm looking forward to at this point is the keynote at WWDC. I'd like to see how Steve is going to convince us that the world is still a happy place |

Me too! I just hope he is on stage more than last year. I want him to do the convincing, not one of the youngsters they are pushing for the future. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!
Get over it, so the next OS is delayed....
What's so wrong with the one we have now??
If I wanted a new mac now I would get it.
I can get 10.5 for all of my macs for $249.00 CDN (Using current pricing)
Try that with Vista

Fake Steve Jobs recommends you all re-hypnotize yourselves
Good news for Apple and long-term holders of Apple stock: iPhone is on track, and iPhone is the growth driver for the company. Leopard gets on a roll right before holiday shopping.
Bad news for Apple: Leopard misses the educational selling season.
In June when the iPhone comes out, few will even remember this Leopard delay.
And, anyway, what the hell is so wrong with Tiger? Tiger is better than Vista right now--as far as I'm concerned, Apple can take all the time it wants.
At least they didn't give Leopard the Mythical Man-Month treatment, which killed Vista development for so long:

Deep breath, everyone.

Nothing at all is wrong with Tiger, Greentimbers and Picaman, but nevertheless, I believe that the delay in the release of Leopard is a serious problem. I agree that no one wants a buggy operating system, but the reason Apple gives for the delay is more telling. And it's not just this delay; it's also the delay in computer upgrades outside of their regular cycle (especially our heralded Mini!). What I see here is at least the appearance that Apple's interests are less and less on their computer business. This couldn't come at a worse time; Apple is finally having some traction on Windows users and pulling them into the fold. This can stop and even reverse if users perceive that the platform won't receive Apple's primary attention anymore. Unlike with PC's if one company (Apple) loses motivation to keep making better computers, no one else is there to take up the slack.
This would be a very good time to release some computer upgrades to show that Apple is still advancing on the computer hardware side of things. That would counteract some of the bad publicity they are getting because of this delay. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

Apple's stock in personal computers is too small, to be just a computer company. Personal electronics is where its at, and Apple knows it.
They have to make a living somehow

There are two groups I feel sorry for.
1- Those who waited until Spring to buy a new machine with Leopard. Especially those who are stuck running Windows .
2- Software developers that have developed programs that are designed for Leopard. Lots of lost potential revenue. Especially if you invested quite a bit of time and money in the developement. Waiting longer on their return on investement could be brutal. |
