I bought an ipod shuffle, and downloaded on a dell--liked the apple store so much, bought this mini to see how i'd like it--like it much more than windows.
anyhow, the ipod when attached to the mini, i tunes asks do I want to replace the content with that of the new computer. I did it once and it erased the content. how do I transition, and bring the content over to the mini. (by the way thte dell crashed and I lost all the stuff there.) so I am proceeding cautiously. Any help much appreciated. |

I kinda don't understand your question...but i think I know why your Dell crashed. Whenever disconecting hardware/devices from a win PC, you must go onto the quick launch bar and click 'safely remove hardware' and then follow those steps before disconecting. Otherwise, your system can crash. _________________ Gone. |

I think I understand your question; you want to transfer your MP3s from your Dell to your Mac, right? If you had a bigger iPod, using that to do it would be the easiest way to do it.
Since you don't, you'll need to network them. I assume you have them both on a network? If you do you can enable sharing on the Mac under System Preferences->Sharing->Windows Sharing. Check that box and read the text at the bottom where it should say something like "You can access this computer using this address:" or something like that. On your Dell open Internet Explorer or the Run dialog box and type that address in. You should be prompted for your login information for the Mac. Type that in and then you can copy and paste files wherever you please. _________________ Computer Engineer

| what happens is when I plug the ipod into the usb port, a ballon pops up and says: "ipod is linked to another music library. Do you want tochange the link to this itunes music library and replace all existing songs on this ipod with those from this library?" When I di it last time, it erased the ipod and of course replaced it with nothing, since the mac had no songs downloaded into it. I replaced the songs into the ipod from the dell, and since then the dell crashed. How do i get the songs from the ipod that were dell driven, into the mac? |

Did you get all of your songs onto your iPod? There are several options for transferring songs off of your iPod as well as playlists, though since you have a shuffle, playlist transferring is worthless. There is Senuti, iLinkPod, YamiPod, and CopyPod (costs $). Any of those should work great for you. _________________ Computer Engineer

His iPod is loaded with the songs through iTunes and he lost his music collection on his Dell. These links won't help him with that as he needs to load his iPod with songs manually, not through iTunes like he already has. _________________ Computer Engineer
