I have been using my Mac Mini w/ my Pioneer Elite 45TX audio receiver. They are connected via USB and sound has been coming thru fantastically.

Last week I added a minimate drive and noticed today that there's no more sound. I disconnected everything and went back to the original conf. Still no sound.

In the System Pref, I checked the sound panel and it looks like when I disconnect/reconnect the USB to the reciever, the USB codec will reappear, so the AVR is recognized. Volume is at max. Any ideas?

Were you running the USB speakers into the minimates hub? Now you're directly connected with no sound? No sound either way?

Check this
1. System Preferences
2. Click Sound
3. Click the Output tab
4. Select the USB Speakers from the device list

Yes, to all 3 questions.

I'll check those system prefs tonite. Hope it's really simple, I'm not in the mood to debug this week... Sad

I seem to recall that I did that and USB audio CODEC was selected. I'll confirm. I'll also try it w/ my WinXP laptop, just to isolate if it's the AVR or Mini.

Much thanks. I made sure to select USB Audio CODEC and now it works. Perhaps when I added the new drive and moved the USB to the external hub, the internal speaker became the default.
