| I'm sure the Mac mini like case adds to the cost, but it seems overpriced compared to the Elgato TV tuners. |

Is it just me but does this only have a single SD analogue tuner? How can Elgato have 2 HD tuners in the diversity the size of a usb flash drive and this thing with the mini's footprint only have 1 x SD tuner?
Not much info on the site, I can't even find if it is wireless g or n? I do like the idea of one touch ready and the different saving formats to save space though. _________________ Intel 2.4Ghz/4G Ram/1TB HDD/Server MacMini

| What's the difference between this one and the previous model? I have the TVMax, but I don't see any reason here to upgrade. |

That's a good question. I was thinking one was analog and the other digital, but they are both analog. |

That is because all those sticks have no encoding chips meaning that the burden of encoding will lie within the Mac.

That's why it is larger and much more expensive.
El Gato's that do encoding also are much larger than their (simple) sticks.
The main reason for bringing out theis + is most likely the ending of the EyeTV agreement. |

| I'm thinking of upgrading my Miglia TVMicro usb stick, because it only sends mono audio to my mini. Does anyone know if the Tv Max+ will support stereo? |

I'm unsure why it costs more than most of the tuners out there it doesn't even come with the VERY NECESSARY eyeTV software anymore, so tack on another 50 bucks for that. If they were smart they'd add in some media card readers and an extra dvdrw or hard drive and sell it as a complete solution. Done even get me started on that dated remote control. Lets use apple's remote oh wait, we can't awesome. I hate to sound negative but, I'm tire of these under-featured over-priced accessories. This is a standard definition tv tuner? Yikes, I'll pass on it.

I have a good solution for you on that point:
Stop buying Apple and switchover to the PC world where you can get much against much lower prices and have more to choose from. |

It is simple. Either accept higher prices or switch. |

Now you are starting to sound like Steve Ballmer.

That might be true, but the EyeTV 250 (which has a built-in hardware encoder) is pretty darn small. It's basically the same size as two 5G iPods stacked. I have really enjoyed my 250 for the most part. I can't wait to start transferring things over to the Apple TV. The price isn't bad either. Newegg sells them for $160. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Terrific!
How much and how fast can you ship a container of them to Europe? We have to pay about the double price! (€250 => $300) |

What country are you in?
I did a search for "EyeTV 250 UK" on Google and it looks like they are selling for around £140.00 in the UK.

Last time I looked the Apple store sold them for €250 in the Netherlands. Presently I don't see it in their store. |
