|
|
I read in a previous post that Mac Mini users are discouraged (putting it mildly) from inserting mini-CDs/DVDs into the slot-loading tray. According to the poster, the Mini wasn't built to handle mini discs.
Is this true? Anyone had any experience with this?
Before the Mini, I had a slot-loading iMac DV400 which DID ACCEPT mini discs. Wouldn't the principle be the same? Wanted to hear from other folks first before I tried it on my Mini.

p.s. I couldn't find the thread/post I was referring to earlier |

I would say that these drives won't support the mini-CDs or business card CDs. I looked at Pioneer's spec documentation which is linked here and just from their diagrams I would bet that they don't support small CDs. I have since emailed them, so hopefully there'll be resolution in a few days to that extent. Pioneer makes the DVR-K05 and DVR-K04 drives that people are using to upgrade their Minis. I think the actual SuperDrive is a Hitachi, but I haven't looked into that.
In the mean time, I would bet on mini-CDs not working. Not all slot loading drives support this feature. _________________ Computer Engineer

Thanks for the info!
I'd better wait before "feeding" my Mini any of those mini discs.
I hope the folks at Pioneer answer your query.
Thanks again.
