|
|
I'm looking to replace my Samsung 19" monitor with something larger (24"+) - not sure if I should get something HDMI or stick with the mini Display Port w/VGA adapter that I use currently with the Samsung.
I had heard that 2012 Minis had a problem with flickering HDMI displays. My Mini is from 2010. Would it have the same problem?
Also, I'm running the last version of Snow Leopard, if that matters. (Not planning to go to Lion any time soon.)
Is there a larger monitor out there that anyone is particular happy or unhappy with? |

I'm not sure, but VGA is limited to 1920 by 1200 if not less, and I've read that Apple limits the HDMI connection to 1920 by 1080. If you wanna go larger you would use DVI, maybe Dual Link DVI, or the mini Display Port.
When my old monitor died, I asked a friend who is the head of IT for a advertising company for advice and he recommended the large HP displays.

I have a 24" Dell for few years I used with a Mini DVI to HDMI adapter on a late 2009 Mac Mini, now with a HDMI cable on a 2011 Mac Mini.
Very happy with it. _________________ Mac Mini i5 2.5 GHZ, 16GB Ram.

I use two 24" Dell 2408WFP Ultrasharp displays on my mini 2009 - both via HDMI via adapters - wonderful.
BTW: Noticeably sharper on HDMI than when using the VGA input - don't be tempted to use VGA. Go for DVI, DP or HDMI inputs - the Dell 2408WFP has them all! _________________ Martin at HeadSpin HD now on Blu-ray |

| Thanks for the tips. Turns out I have to replace my monitor anyway because I just found out the power supply is on the fritz. It's been about 7 years with this monitor so it's time to say goodbye! |
