Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their experiences on this forum for upgrading the mac mini.

I completed my upgrade to the the T7400 2.16 Ghz, 2GB memory and the Seagate 160G 5400.3.

I must say that 2GB of memory is a must. I first started out with 1GB, the T7400 and the 160GB hard drive but certainly noticed a performance boost when adding the additional memory.

The Mini stays very quiet until the temperature increases and the fans start up for a few moments, but it is still an acceptable noise level. You will certainly hear the difference in a quiet environment. However, if you have an external USB hard disk enclosure with fan, it is probably making more noise.
