Good choice, I am not at all jealous of your extra 4" Wink

Have fun with it...

Why should you be jealous? remember, it's not the size that matters, it's how you use it Smile

Thanks for the well-wishing!

It struck me as possibly the weirdest bit of advertising I've ever seen, so I just had to make it my avatar.
Congrats on your huge iMac. I would like to see some pictures of this monster!

Hopefully you'll have the iMac for a long time. How long do you plan on keeping/using it?

well, since I almost got castrated by my better half for buying this one, I think I'll keep this a good 2 - 4 years. That is oh course unless I get the new computer itch and have a lot of extra money lying around. Smile

I'll probably run this one into the ground though.

Sounds good. That's what i'm looking to with my Mac mini. I hope to get a good four years out of it, until I get a laptop or another desktop for college.

Congrats again and good luck with your iMac.

Hey, just wanted to chime in to say that I too recently purchased an iMac, and is is hands down the nicest computer that I have ever owned! I went with the 20" Core2Duo model, upgraded the RAM to 2 GB, and got the BT Keyboard and Mouse. It looks slick on my desktop. Only 1 wire!! I can't get over how fast this thing is. Last night I was moving 150 GB of DVD rips to my storage server, downloading a couple of torrents with Azureus, ripping CDs using EAC/Lame with Parallels and coherence mode, chatting on Adium, surfing the web, and listening to iTunes all at the same time. Not even so much as a slow down! Then when the wife came home we popped open Media Central and watched a movie. It just doesn't get any better than that.

Congrats on your new iMac!

I definitely agree with you Drgonzo2k2. I also can't believe how cool the CPU runs also. Last night I was surfing the web, downloading torrent files in Azureus, listening to itunes and installing programs and the CPU temp barely touched 100 degrees F.

I'm really not used to that when using my CD MacBook. Running all of those programs at one time would have had the CPU temp up to at least close to 150 degrees F.

Hey Danrel,

What are you using to monitor your temperatures? I haven't been checking mine, but I can assure you that it is running extremely cool. I NEVER hear the fans come on, and I've pushed it pretty hard since I've had it. I also never feel any heat radiating from around the unit. I know with my Mini and all the external items I needed to get what I wanted out of it, if I left the computer cabinet closed, when I opened it I could feel some decent heat coming out of there. What really amazed me is how silent the optical drive is! When ripping DVDs, my wife didn't even know it was working. When doing the same on my Mini, it sounded like a jet was taking off. The best thing really is just having the single power cable coming out of the unit. If you set these guys up on a clean desktop, they look really impressive.

Sorry for the delayed reply Drgonzo2k2.

To monitor the temp I use Temperature Monitor

It's a freeware program that monitors all types of components in your iMac.

Hope this helps.

I'm working on getting some photo's of my temp set up on the site soon!
