This is NOT in the Mac mini accessories section because I'm asking about displays that, most likely, cannot be driven by the current mini's.
As many of you know, I am currently working in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I will likely be here till spring 2008...so I am projecting out quite a bit in regards to my next computer equipment purchases.
When I return, I plan to splurge a bit with my home computing setup. I DEFINITELY want a nice dual screen configuration. I had originally thought that a dual 1920x1200 setup would be nice (perhaps a 24" iMac coupled with a Dell 24" LCD sporting the same resolution). However, I stare at two Dell laptops every day with 1920x1200 resolution and it simply isn't enough desktop real estate...especially if I AM spending the money to spoil myself.
Unfortunately, that makes my only other option a Mac Pro with dual 30". (well, maybe not THAT unfortunate) I don't THINK the 24" will drive a 30" ACD, will it? (if so, that would be another option...although I'd much rather have a more symetrical dual screen setup).
I'm mostly just thinking out loud...but your input would be much appreciated! I DO have the luxury of another year of new Apple (and other display vendor) products to critic and ponder over, so that is nice. _________________ -=iMav=-

I can't seem to find any information on the 24" iMac being able to power a 30" ACD. You could have the iMac (24") with a 23" ACD. But with all the problems with the 23 incher, I wouldn't really take that option into consideration.
What's the price range you want to stay under? |

The 24" iMac's can not power the 30" ACD's (or any other displays requiring dual-link). I knew that but had forgotten.

Well, based on the fact that I am considering a Mac Pro and two 30" ACD's, I don't really HAVE a price limit. Although, I'm not really wanting to spend TOO unwisely.
I think that even though I'd like a bit more desktop real estate, if I had to buy right now, I'd settle for a 24" iMac and 24" Dell display (dual 1920x1200 displays). I'm fine with the price of the 30" ACD's, but the premium on the Mac Pro's when I really don't need/want quad (or eventually oct) processors is way too much.
Not totally ruling the Mac Pro out...it's just that I'd have a hard time justifying it. (even considering the fact that I am doing this solely to spoil myself) _________________ -=iMav=-

I love the mini to death...however, it's a bit meager for the spoiling I plan on doing for myself! _________________ -=iMav=-
