I was wondering if the new shuffle would be right for me cause I have 4620 songs (25.81 GB). The reason i thought the shuffle is cause if i had an ipod video I would just go certain songs, and with the shuffle i heard there is a feature to pt random songs on there and i would do that everyday to listen to different stuff.

I would recommend getting at 5G iPod (video). Just put all your music on it and put it on shuffle. Eventhough the shuffle is cool and it could be for you, I think you would be better off having all your music in your pocket instead of .05% of your songs in your pocket.

I have the old shuffle and LOVE it. I doubles as a thumb drive, I print docs. and pictures with it at various places around town. I use it more than my other ipods, I figure I spend way less time browsing songs with it. The way I figure it, am I really going to listen to 80GB worth at any one time? I think not.

I recommend getting an iPod Video and shuffling songs as well. The shuffle has it's place in that it is very small and solid state, but I know I personally like my full blown iPod. I normally always listen to my songs on shuffle. It's also quite easy to make playlists. Sometimes I want shuffle but I only want a certain genre.

I have both a 5G iPod and a 1G shuffle. I use both fairly regularly.

The 5G I use when I have the pocket room to carry it, or are going to be listening to a variety of things, videos, music, podcasts, audiobooks. I also have a car connector that only works with non-shuffle iPods.

The shuffle I tend to use when I just need some music, but don't want too many choices. I keep it by the side of my bed, so if I'm having trouble sleeping, I can listen to a few things. I use it when I work on my car, because I don't mind if I get it dirty or greasy. I also take it to class, because it's so small and tiny, I don't have to worry about it taking up pocket space, and I use the remaining space as a flash drive to save or access documents.

For some reason I agree with some of the reviews out there for the newer shuffle. I don't think it sounds all that great. I got a nano instead and was more pleased with the increased space, a screen, better sound quality and longer battery life. Plus it isn't all that big like a iPod video.

Yes, No, Maybe So......To each his own I say. You just have to look at your needs vs. cost. Do you have any need to carry all of your music? i.e. long trips, flights etc. Do you readily have the cash? OR do just want an MP3 player to listen to some music sometimes, tight on cash? After answering these few simple questions you should have your answer.

Got a little more cash than a Shuffle but, not quite the money for a Video - go Nano!

I still am so amazed on how they fit 8GB in that little form factor.

Why would you get an 8 GB when you could have got a 30GB for the same price

- No desire to watch video on my iPod
- I typically carry around 3GB of music and 1GB of podcasts
- I don't like the bulk of the full-sized iPods
- My iPod gets jarred around quite a bit during my workouts (advantage of solid state storage over hdd)

Yeah, if you like something you can clip to your sleeve or pocket and go for a bike ride, walk, or gym workout, the little Shuffle sure is nice. Cool I'm a klutz and tend to drop things... NOT good for anything of any weight or with sensitive moving internal parts! Exclamation
