|
|
I see that the AppleTV works on 720p and 1080i TV's, but it says it can't play 1080i video. My Tv doesn't support 720p video, so would it down convert the HD to 480p like the PS3 does??
If so...then that sucks! |

If you have a 1080i TV, it probably just upscales the 720p content to 1080i. It won't play 1080i content, but it will work on 1080i displays. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

Just about all HDTVs support 720p and 1080i, and up/down-convert to native resolution as needed. Are you sure yours doesn't?

That would be very strange if your tv didnt handle 720p if it does 1080i. _________________ -DucKy

Doug | There are quite a few HDTVs that support 1080i but not 720p. I know that the Panasonic 50U-series of plasmas do not support 720p, although I'm unsure how 720p channels are supported with the antenna connections (for channels like Fox and ABC).
Also, many CRT RPTVs don't support 720p.
