So, for all you lucky *insert colorful language here* who got a Mac Pro for Christmas, or just wanted one and got it, here's what you need to get next if you really want bragging rights.

If your four core powerhouse just isn't slicing through Final Cut Pro fast enough, perhaps two of these is the ticket. Only $3000, and you too can have the fastest Mac Pro on the planet.

That's pretty cool, just imagine how fast the Mac Pro would be like with those chips. Something like 5.32GHz. That'll make reality of the PowerMac G5 Ad

Ummm, dude. Those are Quad Core chips. As in 4 cores per processor. In a Mac Pro, that would add up to be 8 cores. So it would come out to be more like 21.28Ghz. Imagine that

Sorry to burst the bubble but the quad core chip speed (2.66GHz) is its overall speed so so it is 5.23GHz. But still pretty fast. Could be one of the fastest computer around.
I wonder if someone will try to put a xeon chip into a mac mini?

I doubt it...as the Xeon and the Mac mini's logic board are not compatible in any way...socket, FSB, architecture, etc.

Or maybe the fastest C2D chip on offer from intel? I think the fastest is the 2.66GHz one.

Those are compatible...Merom - the mobile Core 2 Duo T-series.
T7200 - 2.0GHz/4m/667 FSB
T7400 - 2.16GHz/4m/667 FSB
T7600 - 2.66GHz/4m/667 FSB
And some folks here have already installed them.

Incorrect. 2.66Ghz is what EACH core clocks at. That's why dual processor Macs are so much faster than the previous generation. A 1.66Ghz Intel mac doesnt smoke a 1.42ghz because of a 200Mhz jump and an L2 cache increase. If what you purport is true, each core in my Mac mini runs at 867Mhz. The sysem software cannot combine cores to achieve a clockspeed. Each core gets assigned a specific task, even specific tasks within tasks (multithreading) to allow use of more than one of those cores, and because two processors can do twice as much, you have the massive speed increase over the G4 single-core processor.
The speed doesn't occur because the theoretical processing speed is 21Ghz, because thats not how it works. The speed occurs because you can break down one task (process a DVD in Mp4, for example) into 8 different sub tasks, which in turn completes the task approximatedly 8 times as fast as a single core 2.66Ghz processor.
