Apple today officially launched its directory of web-based applications designed for the iPhone and iPod touch. The directory currently lists over 200 third-party applications divided into eleven categories. The categories include Calculate, Entertainment, Games, News, Productivity, Search Tools, Social Networking, Sports, Travel, Utilities, and Weather. Apple also offers an RSS feed of the latest applications added to the directory.

| I guess that it's nice to have all of these in one place. I just wish that Apple would give us iPod touch owners Mail, Google Maps, and the true Calendar. I really don't want to resort to hacks. |

| Nice, but I'll be more excited when Apple starts an official list of downloadable applications from third party developers. |
