Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac Announced
Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Posted by: Brian
Pinnacle Systems today announced Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac, a new USB 2.0 device that allows users to capture video in an iPod-native format from any analog source, be it camcorder, set-top box, game console or VCR. With Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac, users can transfer home videos, record TV shows or movies and even record their gameplay from a game console and automatically add the content to iTunes to enjoy it on their Mac, iPod, iPhone, or Apple TV.
A complete hardware/software solution, Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac plugs-in to a Mac's USB 2.0 or 1.1 port, enabling high-quality video streaming directly to the system. The device supports multiple inputs including S-Video, Composite video and stereo audio analog inputs. To maximize quality and efficiency, Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac features hardware video encoding and onboard compression, freeing the Mac's processor to perform other tasks. With MPEG-4 compression, users can store approximately three times more video than MPEG-2 in the same amount of hard disk space without losing quality, says the company.
The Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac will be available in mid-October for $99.99.

| This sounds like a nice product, but I would rather have the EyeTV 250 Plus. It has all the same inputs plus a TV tuner. |

This product seems to focus on outputting to the native resolution of the iPod.
Does anyone have any product recommendations for capturing the contents of VHS tapes and transferring them to recordable DVD? _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Does anyone know if this gizmo will maintain the original resolution of the VHS picture when digitising, or does it convert everything to 320 x 240? _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b
