Apple Releases iTunes 7.4 [Updated]
Thursday, September 6, 2007
Posted by: Glenn
Apple has released iTunes 7.4 via Mac OS X's Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, "With iTunes 7.4, sync your favorite music and more with the new iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod touch, plus create custom ringtones exclusively for iPhone with many of your favorite songs purchased from the iTunes Store. You can now also play purchased videos with closed captioning (when available), easily rate your favorite albums from one to five stars, and watch videos at a larger size inside the iTunes window." iTunes 7.4 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. The download weighs in at 48.1MB.

| I had some trouble syncing with an Apple TV after the update. I needed to reset the Apple TV and start over. I've also noticed that CoverFlow feels slower after the update. That one might be in my head though. |

| Update: Apple has released iTunes 7.4.1 via Mac OS X's Software Update utility and on the Web. We expect more updates to follow as Apple attempts to block the free ringtone workarounds that have been posted on the Internet. |

This mess up is great for iPhone owners, but it's a hassle for the rest of us. I don't feel like agreeing to the iTunes license agreement over and over. |

Don't know if it's related:
Got back home, noticed the software update, did it, plugged in my NEW iPod classic and it's charging after doing a sync. and now there is a capital P in the middle of the top line of the screen!?
Is there any connection? If not, what's the P for? |

I have the "P" on a new 8GB nano when it's connected to my iBook. I would bet that it's a bug and should say iPod. Turning off the time in title will get rid of it. |

I must have the time, so I guess I'm stuck with the P for a while. No biggie!!
Could be worse, it could effect functionality, or say Zune!!!! |

Maybe they will fix it with the first update. I wouldn't care if it said POOP. It's still better than owning a Zune. |
