| I might buy one down the road. I really like the silver and black coloring a lot better than the old glossy white models. |

As expected although when I posted the idea of a all new iMac, I got no replies. And here it is!!
Huh another rumor; 2008 will see a touch screen iMac, wondered if that gets released too? _________________

I like the styling, but this is what worries me. Look at those reflections!

To be honest, I'm not that crazy about the overall design and color scheme. I think Apple did more than what was needed, and it still has that Jay Leno chin. That being said, I will hold out final judgment until I see one in person. _________________ 14" 1.25GHz G4 iBook (died)

The memory accesses door on the bottom of the unit is a great feature. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

| So neat. I hope my parents need a new computer soon, so they can take my mini and I can possibly get the new iMac! |

Not only did they not provide a decent GPU upgrade...the new graphics offerings are WORSE than the previous gen. In fact, I believe the current Radeon 2600 PRO is equal to (or perhaps even a tad worse) than the GPU I had in my 1st gen Intel 20" iMac (which I bought back in Jan '06).
This plus the glossy-only displays definitely widens the gap between the iMacs and the Mac Pros. I gotta believe that HAS to be deliberate. _________________ -=iMav=-

| I would love to know who these people are that keep telling Apple they love glossy displays. I'm not buying that BS for one second. The glossy screen is the number one reason why I sold my MacBook and upgraded to a MacBook Pro. I could not stand the reflections and glare under most lighting conditions. |

Unless your name is Rudolph, you should be able to control the lighting in the environment that you are using a desktop computer in well enough to avoid issues. Task lighting, soft lighting, positioning of the monitor etc.
With a laptop you are looking down on the screen and the screen is typically facing in a upwards direction. You are typically in various uncontrollable lighting environments.
I agree with iMav, Apple may be trying to further differentiate the Pro line from the consumer line. I however have asked approx. 10 people whether they like the glossy displays on their laptops. Every person that I asked has said yes. Graphic artists and some others may dislike glossy displays, but on average I think most consumer enjoy them. |

What about using the new iMac with a second display? I don't know of another glossy LCD on the market. I think Sony made a couple at one time, but discontinued them. Anyways, this could make for some interesting viewing if your second display is anti-glare. I guess Apple could switch the Cinema displays over to glossy, but I find that very unlikely. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD

If I decide to get an iMac (when Leopard is released) I will be doing just that (20" ACD connected to the iMac). This will be a great combo especially for photo editing. I will be able to instantly see how my photos will look on both display types. |

That's an interesting point. I'm not really in the market for a new iMac, but I think my personal preference would be to have them both match. I do a lot of photo and video editing with my Cinema connected to a MacBook Pro. It's an awesome (and expensive) combo. The rest of the time it's connected to my Mac mini. I was just wondering if anyone here thought about it. Apparently you have. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD
