Apple Intros New Keyboards
Tuesday, August 7, 2007
Posted by: Glenn
Apple today introduced new wired and wireless keyboards. Both keyboards are approximately .33" thick and feature a sleek anodized aluminum enclosure. According to the company, "With its elegant anodized aluminum enclosure, the Apple Wired Keyboard looks equally at home in your living room or on your desk. Just connect it to the USB port on your Mac and start enjoying the crisp, responsive feel of its low-profile keys. Like its wired sibling, the Apple Wireless Keyboard features a low-profile anodized aluminum frame that complements any Mac. It connects using Bluetooth wireless technology, giving you the freedom to work or play up close or across the room." The Apple Wired Keyboard requires a Mac with an available USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port. It's priced at $49. The Apple Wireless Keyboard requires a Mac with Bluetooth, and existing keyboard and mouse for initial setup. It's priced at $79.

The wireless keyboard is sexy cool! I would need to try one at the Apple store first though. I'm certainly not of fan of the chicklet keys on the MacBook. They just don't have enough movement in them for my liking. But it looks like I better start getting used to them. Chicklets are now da future. |

| But up to 5 weeks to ship? They're making some good interest assuming they charge you when you order. |

Isn't fashion weird? In the early 80s, the fashionable look for the newest technology was brushed aluminium. In the late 80s everything had to be black. In the early 90s, dark grey. In the late 90s, translucent plastic. In the early 00s, snow white. Now we're back to brushed aluminium.
Please don't ask me what the point of this post is - I haven't worked that out yet... |

Apple doesn't charge you until it ships. |

Well only complaint with wireless version is number keypad gone, oh well we'll hold you in our thoughts when using a calculator Widget and we need to blaze through numbers. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

I'm happy without the number keypad, they have their uses, but I think they often just clutter up the workspace. What I'd like to see is a ergonomic one of these. Why is that so hard? I just can't see paying 80 smack for something that will crunch my wrists up so bad. _________________ 1.42 | 1GB | 80GB

That's actually one of the main reasons why I bought it. I wanted something really small that I could sit back on my chair and couch with. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Well I sit at my desk, now for an entertainment center this keyboard is perfect, also I use number keypad occasionally, but I normally do math on a notepad sitting by my desk or in my head. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

Could you by any chance post the dimensions of your new wireless wonder? Thanks!
