Apple seems to be doing everything right in regards to its UNIX core. IMHO, the open source model just plain WORKS...and this is a great way to keep Darwin and OS X secure, stable, and inspired.

Darwin can be downloaded from Apple here.

The OpenDarwin project can be found here.

The GNU-Darwin project can be found here.

All three will currently run on PPC AND x86 (although the x86 compatibility list is a bit limited right now)...
