Dell Intros New 19" and 24" LCD Monitors
Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Posted by: Brian

Dell today introduced new 19" and 24" widescreen LCD monitors. The 19" Dell SE198WFP (shown on right) features a 1440 x 900 resolution panel, 5ms response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and DVI-HDCP ready connectivity. It's available immediately in the U.S. for $189. The 24" Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP-HC features a 1920 x 1200 resolution panel with Dell's TrueColor technology, 6ms response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, integrated 9-in-2 media card reader, four USB 2.0 ports, and both VGA and DVI ports (with HDCP support). It will be available in the U.S. in July for $679. Both displays come with a three-year limited warranty.

Very nice looking. To be honest, I had no problem with the looks of the previous 24" Dell displays, but the silver is an added bonus.

I really like the new silver and black look. Even the backs look nice. I've been waiting for the 27" to break below $1000 for the last few months. It will be my next display. Oh, it will be (enter Dr. Evil laugh here).

That's the old 24", I couldn't find a 24" with the silver frame on it though, but I know that's old unless the news is over a month late since the first review I saw said May 23 and this was reported June 26.

Those are pictures of the 2407WFP not the new and unreleased 2407WFP-HC.

The actual LCD panel and electronics are the only real differences. The coloring and styling are the same.

And $10.

True, but don't pay either of the prices ($669 and $679) shown. The 2407FPW typically goes on sale for $599 just about every other week. I would assume that once they clear out the 2407FPW inventory, the 2407WFP-HC will follow the same sales pattern.

I always check Techbargains and Dealcatcher for sales and coupon codes before buying anything from Dell. I also get emailed a lot of coupon codes directly from them. I would say on average two a week. The displays seem to go on sale every two weeks or so.

wait, if you read the descriptions in the links carefully, it does say 2407WFP-HC whether thats an old picture or not. unless they are misrepresenting the product?

i think we are just assuming the 24" will be silver just by the 19" picture.
