Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.4.10 v1.1 and Audio Update 2007-001

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update v1.1 and Audio Update 2007-001 via Mac OS X's Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, the 10.4.10 Update v1.1 is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger. This update includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:
- RAW camera support
- Mounting and unmounting external USB devices
- Support for 3rd party software applications
- Security updates
Apple also released Audio Update 2007-001. According to the company, this update addresses an issue with version 1.0 of the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update in which a "popping" sound might be heard with some external speakers on an Intel-based Mac. It is recommended for all Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X 10.4.10.

A lot of complaints and problems will be fixed after this update. I'm lucky I didn't have any problems with the last update, so I'm not sure if i'll update of not.
Fox was right on the rumor. |

I'm a happy camper tonight. The audio update actually fixed a small cracking sound that I've had since buying an Intel Mac mini (when they first came out). It was happening at the same time as the reported 10.4.10 pops. When audio began to play after being stopped for a while. Hell, I'm happy they messed 10.4.10 up the first time around.  |

| Audio update 2007-001 got rid of the annoying popping, but my Mac mini still makes a big pop on startup, shutdown and sleep. It's not a big deal, but I didn't notice it with 10.4.9. |

It still did not take care of the Firewire audio device problems. Everyone at the Apple forums who had the Firewire problem, as I do, seem to report no change. Same thing here. For the time being I am staying at 10.4.9. The device is recognized in System Profiler but not in Sound Preferences or Audio Midi Set-up.

Anyone know if the 1.1 updater is going to be incorporated into a Combo updater. I prefer the Combo updating rather than Software Updating.

Unfortunately, the audio update could not be applied to my PowerBook, so no, I'm still waiting.

Hello
Am I the only one in this situation?
The fix for this dreadful update did not resolved anything.
My Mac Mini does not start (the Ibook works fine) I have to manually restart it.
Another thing once it is running If I turn Airport off, it takes forever to restart.
Can I reinstall 10.4.9 without loosing any data?
Do I need to use the recovery disc one and then get the 10.4.9 combo update?

For those having audio interface recognition problems here are 2 links from the Mackie Audio site. The second is a work-around that does work for other brands of interfaces, as well.

How wise the work-around is, I can not say. I have chosen to stay at 10.4.9. If it is true that Mackie has been in touch with Apple about this matter; it might possibly be more prudent to wait. The work-around might be of use to those who did not have a back-up copy of .9.

Yes, you can reinstall 10.4.9 without losing any data if you choose the Archive and Install option from your installation disk. This will not erase your disk and it will retain your preference settings. It will also archive your current system installation, which you can delete later once you know that everything is OK with your "new" (old) installation. Once you've done the installation, you will have to find the 10.4.9 combo updater to bring it back to 10.4.9 or alternatively, install each incremental 10.4.x update until you are at 10.4.9.
