| Meet the Bravia Internet Video Link. It doesn't sound much better than the Apple TV. I would like to know when that dang SlingCatcher is coming out? |

In other news, Xbox Media Center is coming to Linux. I'm sure we'll see high-definition video support as well as Blu-ray and HD-DVD playback shortly after |

That might be another bad sign for the Apple TV. It doesn't seem like there is much interest in modding the Apple TV in the Linux community. The lackluster hardware probably isn't helping. Oh well, I'm still enjoying it. The YouTube videos kind of gave it a small shot in the arm. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

| It will only be really successful if it is able to be built with free tools, and not the xbox sdk. Even at your link, they do not distribute binaries. |

I think that's half the point, so it will be "legit" |

AppleTV = slow processor, no disc drive. Can't play real HD content, can't play discs. I think video is all about niche products. If you want simple, an AppleTV is great. If you're a tinkerer at heart, XBMC or MCE2005 is a great choice. AppleTV is not for everyone, just like XBMC/MCE2005 is not for everyone. |

Come on, doesn't a 40GB hard drive count for something?
I hear you. The hardware is sort of a yawner. You can't really say that about the software though. I think the Apple TV has a really slick interface. That being said, the new Front Row software in Leopard is basically the same thing. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I'm not so sure. It may look basically the same but thats not necessarily the same as being basically the same thing, for example does it have the same plugin architecture. Would be nice if the similarities were more than skin deep. |
