Apple Intros Safari for Windows
Monday, June 11, 2007
Posted by: Charles
Apple today introduced Safari 3, the "world's fastest and easiest-to-use" web browser for Windows PCs and Macs. According to the company, Safari is the fastest browser running on Windows, based on the industry standard iBench tests, rendering web pages up to twice as fast as IE 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2. Safari joins iTunes in delivering Apple's user experience to both Windows and Mac users as well as full support of open Internet standards. Safari 3 features easy-to-manage bookmarks, effortless browsing with easy-to-organize tabs and a built-in RSS reader to quickly scan the latest news and information. Safari 3 public beta is available today as a free download.

All the form widgets are now messed up on Safari 3. It seems, from my very limited tests, that assigning a background color disables the "gelly bean" style for buttons.
Aside from that, it feels like Safari 3 is a lot faster than Safari 2, at least on my Mac mini. |

Me too. Mine feels a lot more "Zippy" when it comes to surfing this forum.
Aside from the speed, it's nice for a change Safari is now on Windows. Is this just for the beta, or is this a permanent feature? |

Apple will make it a availible download for all windows users.
And considering that it is a beta and is limited in functionality right now im in no big hurry to use it. |

That's it? What happened to the rest of the page?
I don't think it's a good idea for Apple to release buggy beta software to Windows users. These are the people that you want to come over, not turn off. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

| Mine works, but Clear Type looks so bad (like it always looks in Windows). Is there a way to turn it off? |

Safari in Windows? Who'da thought that would happen today? I haven't downloaded OUR version yet. I might wait, because there are some nasty reports.

I wished they released some upgraded HARDWARE instead of putting effort in trying to convert windows users... BTW It messed my sons XP game machine, Safari did not start up but got a failure-message. It did not want to get de-installed either, on a old Athlon 900. Crapware! _________________ ___________________Jim©
