I was thinking about using a (somewhat) new tv of mine for the mini. It's a 20" samsung dynaflat crt...so I don't know if it would work. Does the tv have to be digital? because i think it's analog. Just wondering, cause that could save me ALOT, id rather pay $20 for now just for the adapter, rather than $150+ for a monitor, even though the resolution ona tv will be horrible.

CRTs are, by design, analog. That's why you don't see many with DVI connectors. I know Apple sells a DVI to RCA and S-Video cable. That would do it for you. Depending on your TV I don't think you can go above VGA resolution (640x480), possibly SVGA (800x600). Either way, you'll want an HDTV or a real monitor. SDTVs just weren't made to handle that kind of bandwidth and neither were the video connectors

Yeah I knew it couldn't be too good, I mean, why would people buy regular monitors when they could get a cheap 32" crt tv and have a decent picture. Well, I think i'd be able to survive on vga for awhile though, I mean, at least I can get the mini sooner. Because if I'm going to save for a monitor, I want a nice LCD, and that'll take alot longer to save-up for, so i'll get the mini, and the adapter, and some $50 speakers and I'm set.

You can just buy a $50 CRT from eBay or a local store or friend. A TV is going to look like crap. Not only is it VGA but it's interlaced....ick.

grr, the mac mini god doesn't want me to get one too soon, damn him, and thanks for the $50 idea, but I'd rather not. If I'm buying a display, its gonna be a 17" LCD.
