Sound problem

Hi,

Has anyone had problems with using 5.1 powered speakers with macs and mac mini in particular. I only receive 3.1 sound when i plug in through the Headphone port I previously had an imac G3 and had the same problem. Anyone know of a solution or am i dumb??

For 5.1 you'll need an external audio device like these:

There are a number of external USB or FireWire devices you can use.

Like Greg said you will need a 5.1 adaptor. Unfortunately the mini is only stereo. That was something that almost drove me to an iMac.
