There is the following DVD burner up for sale on our local auction site. Any ideas if this would be suitable for a mac mini?
External USB 2.0 & FireWire (1394) enclosure with LG GSA-4160B DVD WRITER

| I don't know of that drive personally. I would first go to LG's site and check on drivers and see if they have forums to see what others are saying. |

I don't know about the drivers, but LG seemed in a recent German test, very easy with a lot of different DVD-/+R media, while a well known brand as Lite On, but also Plextor and NEC had various problems.

| Note that you need to do some special "stuff" to get iDVD to work with external drives. |

what kind of special "stuff" do you need to do, i'm considering buying an external dvd-r drive and would like to know if it would be worth the hassle. |

There's some patch to setup a profile for it to work with apps like iPhoto and iDVD.
