We have two female guinea pigs, Miss Pippi and Bijou. You wouldn't think that rodents have much in the way of personality, but they really do. Guinea pigs are quite enjoyable pets, and they enjoy people if they're handled a lot when young. The only negative is they're hard to paper train, so it's a good idea to put a towel on your lap if you're going to keep them there for awhile. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

| For some reason I hate pets. I just don't like caring for them. The only pet I ever had were goldfishes and every single one of them died on me, heck, I can't even keep plants alive, so no pets for me. |

My family has two dogs, a border colie/terrier named Spike, and a border colie/husky/black lab/rotweiler named Oreo. Spike is 12 or 13 years old, and Oreo is almost a year old. _________________

Living in an apartment, I don't currently have any pets. My parents have two chocolate labs, Java and Mousse, which I lived with for a number of years until I left for college. I also had a number of dogs growing up, usually labs or retrievers.
Once I have the time, and an appropriate living situation, I'll probably get either another chocolate lab, or a shar-pei. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

Same deal. I had dogs growing up, so I'll probably get one when I move into a house. I really don't like cats. My girlfriend has two that bug the heck out me. She better get rid of them if she wants to get married. |

Very interesting. I have one Guinea pig, named Hermi (just celebrated her 6th birthday ). I think it is very interesting that 3 people here have guinea pigs.
I would definitely agree with you about guinea pigs having tons of personality. They are very social creatures, and are often a hoot to live with. They seem a little crazy at first, but as they get older, they get calmer and are great pets if you are living with children. _________________ The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations.

My wife and I are in the process of looking for a new puppy. We had to put our 13-year-old Yellow Lab down last year. She got a huge tumor in her spleen and it was about ready to rupture. It was very sad! We are looking at several different breads now. This includes the Whippet , Vizsla and Labradoodle. I wouldn't mind getting another Lab, but I think it would be hard with memories and all. They are the best dogs though. Their only (and I mean only) downfall is the shedding if you keep them indoors. |

Ours are quite entertaining. They recognize different individuals and react to them differently. Before we renovated our kitchen, I used to block the doors and let them run around for a few hours every two days. They recognize my wife as sucker for food and they will litterally climb up her legs hoping it will get them a treat. They whistle and chirp when the fridge is opened, and they will rise up on their hind legs to get food dangled above them.
We originally had one guinea, but got a second once I learned that they are social animals. They occasionally chase each other around and even fight a bit, but it's like siblings fighting - nothing serious. They are half-sibs, although they look nothing alike. Both are 5 years old and I hope they'll live at least another 5. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT

Mine is pretty much the same. It is amazing how they recognize individuals. She will act depressed when I am gone (so I am told), and happy when I return. She knows when she should get food, and will start squeaking at the top of her lungs.
I let mine out in the living room. The wood floors of our entry hall and dining room block her, as she is scared of the slippery wood. _________________ The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations.
