Belkin Unveils Network USB Hub
Tuesday, May 15, 2007
Posted by: Charles
Belkin officially unveiled its Network USB Hub today. The device works with your existing wireless router to give you wireless access to printers, media readers and external hard drives. According to the company, "The Hub simulates a direct USB connection that makes your computer think that the devices on the network are directly attached to the computer. Special caching techniques allow for support of high-speed USB devices and isochronous transfers at full speed. The software also allows you to easily transfer control of USB devices on the Hub between computers." The Belkin Network USB Hub looks similar to the white Belkin USB and FireWire hubs for the Mac mini, but we don't know if its dimensions are the same at this time. The Belkin Network USB Hub will be available in June for $129.99. Belkin plans to make Mac drivers available for the device in September.

Probably because the developers at Belkin are waiting to get their hands on a beta copy of Leopard at WWDC. |

$129 buys a lot of usb extension cables and I don't have to wait until sept!
It does look slick, but I don't think that price justifies the use. Maybe I'm just missing the point, but this sounds like another tool looking for a problem. _________________ 1.42 | 1GB | 80GB

well not $50 more, it's more like $60-$70 more since to get that many ports you need a hub . _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."
