Salling Software AB today announced the availability of Salling Clicker 3.5, a major update to its two-way remote control software. Salling Clicker allows mobile phones and handheld computers to control popular applications such as PowerPoint and iTunes on Mac and Windows computers. The new version adds innovative new features, support for the very latest handheld devices, and other enhancements. This release also expands its WiFi connectivity to support smartphones based on the Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems. Salling Clicker for Mac 3.5 also adds support for Apple's Front Row. In addition, the new version comes with enhanced support for iTunes, PowerPoint, EyeTV, and Keynote.

New in Salling Clicker 3.5:
- Offers very easy-to-use WiFi connectivity for Symbian & Windows Mobile devices that support WiFi (Bonjour support);
- Now works natively with Symbian 9.x devices (Nokia N80/E61/N95/N93, Sony Ericsson M600/P990/W950, and many more);
- Support for Nokia Communicators (Series 80);
- Support for Windows Mobile 6 (preliminary, as not many devices are on the market yet);
- Support for Windows Mobile 5 devices with Broadcom Bluetooth (Motorola Q, recent iPAQ models);
- Support for many recent Sony Ericsson, Nokia, and Motorola models;
- Improved Keynote and PowerPoint functionality (slide notes, non-linear presentation functionality);
- Improved iTunes functionality (more browse options, quick-access to current playlist);
- Includes control for Front Row;
- Much faster Bluetooth connections from Windows Mobile and Symbian devices;
- Compatibility fixes for iPhoto 6 and iTunes 7.1.x; and
- Many other performance enhancements and fixes.

Salling Clicker 3.5 requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later and a compatible handheld device. It is priced at $23.95.

I bet the people at Salling Clicker are hoping that Apple opens up the iPhone to third-party developers. Cha ching! Although, I wouldn't be surprised to see Apple add remote functionality on their own. I think there was some patent or something that showed the iPhone being used as a remote.

That would be awesome...I hope it happens either way. I'm betting it will. Logitech needs some competition.

The new Salling Clicker version installed easily and works flawlessly for me.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Harmony remotes fall by like 50% in price. They are nice, but a bit overpriced.

What type of phone are you using with Salling Clicker?

I have a Sony Ericcson Z520a. Terrible phone, but fully iSync compatible.

So getting an iPhone, though.

Razz
