|

Has anyone put there DVD collection onto there iTV? How is the video quality? Sound quality? Is it easy to do? Does it work with 5.1 dolby digital or DTS?
Is there a way to categorize my movies vs my kids vs chick flicks my wife has? |

| My MPEG-4 HandBrake rips look and sound great. They even look better than a few of the free things that I've downloaded from the iTMS. |

at 720x480 output or anamorphic screen setting, there are two vertical black borders on the sides. I can't seem to fill the entire screen no matter how I try. I ripped many of my kids popular DVDs anyway because it's so convenient not to handle the discs. If anyone know of a web page with helps and hints on using Hanbrake, please let me know.
Thanks in advance. |

well i did some digging and apparently ATV does handle 5.1 and DTS.....it just doesn't process it....it just passes it through to the optical out and you need a Home theatre system to decode it. |

What's the quality like compared to the original?
what was the filesize on that film when done?
is that 5.1 you have retained? any sync issues?
thanks |

I know it's (a lot) slower to encode in H.264, but you will get a better picture quality for the same bitrate.
MP3, MPEG-4 = old, but ok
AAC, H.264 = new, better quality for the same bitrate
As for DVD rips, be sure to crop any black bars that may be encoded in the DVD picture. |
