| I have been monitoring the prices of 1 GB stick for about a week and not much movement has occured. While I know it's only been about a week, what is the best deal I can get and at what price should I pull the trigger on. About $80 is the best, can I expect $60 at sometime in the next month, $50, $40 even? |

I doubt 1GB sticks will go under $70 before any kind of rebate. Memory prices seem to go up when Back to School time comes around each year. Prices can take wild swings so you never know what to expect next. Just like 2-3 months ago the same chips were selling for $170-200. The same thing happened about two years ago. Memory prices crashed then rocketed back up. I think now is a good time to buy. I have a feeling memory prices will peak again when Longhorn comes out. Coincidence....not!

Like Devo said memory prices can fluctuate. $80 is a good price. I haven't seen it any cheaper.
I'm not sure how tight money is for you. But... you've already spent a week researching prices. You could have paid for that RAM stick delivering newspapers in that time. I wouldn't waste another month researching prices "hoping" to save $20. |

| No. This is for self installation. You don't need to take it to the Apple store. |

I recommend Kingston because it is some of the cheapest and best RAM out there. But, yes, don't wait any longer. I don't think RAM prices will fall much more as companies are barely making a profit at these margins. $80 is a good price, so buy that stick if you find it. _________________ Computer Engineer

I bought the 1G from newegg for $93.00, including tax. It was at my home within two days after ordering. I've yet to pop it in but should build the energy to do so in the next day or so. _________________ Shawn |

You actually paid that much for a gig of RAM? That's alot when you can buy the same quality for at least $30 less. _________________ Computer Engineer
