|

aight, i ordered my mini on feb 7th.
here's what i ordered:
1.25 Ghz/40 gig harddrive/ airport card/ 256 mb of ram.
i was reading about bluetooth cause i didn't know anything about it and decided that i wanted to add that to my order. so i did that last night.
now i'm thinking i want to just go ahead and kick the ram up to 512.
my understanding is that you can't upgrade the ram without voiding the warranty?
so should i call and change the order AGAIN or just wait and upgrade it at my local mac authorized dealer. OR is it really a big deal to upgrade the ram? could i do it myself? I've upgraded ram in a ton of pc's, my emac, my iBook and i even replaced the harddrive in my dual usb iBook.
projected shipping is on or before march 10th and i can't stand the wait!
also why does adding 512 only cost $75
but 1 gig is $325 (shouldn't that be around $150?) _________________ http://www.milktonemedia.com/

I would let it alone. You stand the chance of your order getting pushed back more and more. I would keep the 256MB and when you gt it throw 1GB in it. It's not hard to install and does not void your warranty. Plus Apple memory is expensive so even if you uprade to 512 on your own you'll end up saving some money! |

256MB is not near enough. Let Apple ship it as you have it and put more memory in yourself.

No way how would they ever even prove that? Worse comes to worse throw the old chip in. I think its a mute point anyway because everything I've read says they allow it. |

yeah, i know. i didn't think so, but i swear i read somebody's post that said it voided the warranty either here or on the macaddict forum.
cool thanks ya'll. more and more i was feeling like just letting it be done and upgrade it myself. I do believe I will be opting for the 1 gig instead of the 512. oh i can't wait! _________________ http://www.milktonemedia.com/

I ordered mine with 256 megs of RAM. I booted it up and played around for 5 minutes before shutting down and installing a 1 gig RAM chip. _________________ 2.0 GHz MacBook

Crucial.com
You could get it for cheaper elsewhere, but I've never had a problem with Crucial ram. _________________ 2.0 GHz MacBook

Many have reported that this RAM works very well with the Mac Mini. (and at $149, it is a great deal) _________________ -=iMav=-

Nice find! Lifetime warranty and Newegg rocks! If I buy another mini, I'm buying the RAM from here.

Yep. I ordered mine last night. Standard shipping because, of course, my minis won't be here till sometime in March.
Now, as long as the 512MB ram I have in this PC works in the mini (which it SHOULD), I will have one mini with 1GB and two minis with 512MB. (and the left over 256MB sticks will go into this PC to put it right back at 512MB...NO WASTED RAM!) _________________ -=iMav=-

| Yep. I ordered the same memory as mavherzog. It's sitting at home, taunting me with its presence, awaiting the arrival of my Mini. Newegg's always been good to me, and their prices are usually great. |
