I have noticed an overall slowdown with Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop Elements. What do they have in common? Both of them use Rosetta emulation. I wonder if a bug or compatibility issue now exists in Rosetta with certain apps? Restarting my Mac mini and repairing the disk permissions didn't seem to help. I might try reinstalling Office next.

Here it works fine sofar, no issues with M$ stuff either. Now I'm ready for Leopard on a new core2dual mini, especially since Intel is lowering the prices of the Intel processors this year in 2 stages!
April 22 the first stage, further in june there will be new Pentium en Celeron dual core chips, the latter for real low budget systems. I read this on Tweakers, a well known computer site in our country, which read it on this page If you are not familiar with these kind of signs, don't worry, me either, but you might be able to figure out what he made from it in this article _________________ ___________________Jim©

I installed 10.4.9 on my G4 Mac mini and G5 iMac, no issues so far. I'm excited that Apple finally released this update. It means that I'm one step closer to getting an Intel Mac. I would also like to see Apple start shipping the Apple TV soon. We got iTunes 7.1, 10.4.9 and iPhoto updates all within the last week. All of the computer side software should be ready. I think it's time we start shipping! _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Parallels Desktop does not work in Coherence mode after the 10.4.9 update on my intel Mac mini. Otherwise everything else seems to be working fine. _________________ → craigerskine.com

Odd; it's working fine for me. Do you have the latest version of Parallels? _________________ Mac mini 1 (Old Timer - test Box @ home) : 1.42 PPC @ 1.75, 1GB Memory, 320G HD

Shapeshifter complained that it was not sure if the theme's might cause problems and indeed Acua did not work right... Another works fine though... _________________ ___________________Jim©

Ahhh. I ran a OnyX full clean up and now everything seems ok in Parallels land. Although, now my Quicksilver is not allowing me to navigate/index my external FW HDD. _________________ → craigerskine.com

I don't have an overall slowdown. It's just with the initial launch. I haven't had much time to look into it, but it's still acting the same today. In fact, the first time started Word today (shutdown my mini last night) it just bounced away in the Dock and failed to start. |

My update to 10.4.9 went very well. Instead of making things worse, it helped out my Mac Mini, like what these updates are supposed to do. Before, my dock didn't want to magnify, and I tried many things to get it to work. Now, the dock magnification seems to be working correctly.
Now, I hope this will help out my Mac mini with its shutdown/restart problem. My Mac mini doesn't want to rest. |

Office do not seem slower than before.
However, the start-up time of Tiger seems slower by few seconds with this update. Anybody saw the same thing ? _________________ If A is success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut. |

My startup always seems to be very slow. But, after this update, it seems even slower than before. Is there anyway to improve the startup time, without upgrading the hardware? |

After the update, Energy Saver no longer recognizes my APC UPS.
It shows up in the System Profiler so I don't think it's USB related.
RESOLVED: I found a thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa;jsessionid=aNKbxf81161ftAxPuf?messageID=4230560 with an identical situation and a solution.
To fix this, you have to download and run the COMBO standalone installer. I tried the Delta installer and it did not solve the issue. |

the install went fine until reboot, then I got this dialog box:
System extention cannot be used
The system extention "/system/library/extentions/IOUSBFamily.kext/contents/plugins/AppleUSBHub.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the programs vendor for an update.
Other than the fact it won't boot past that screen or acknowledge any mouse click or keypress at all, it works fine! |

But Macam is more compatible with web cams from ibm. So even if they release a updated driver for mac os x it still will be limited.
I am Finally glad to see the final update of mac os x tiger 10.4.9. It has been a good run with the new intel macs being able to run multiple operating enviroment's. I can't wait for leopard |
