The only time I shutdown my Mini is when I go out of town. Otherwise it sleeps at night and is usually on almost all day. _________________

My two Macs are on 24 hours a day, unless I'm not going to be near them for more than a day. They sleep after 60 minutes though.
I have had machines that didn't like to sleep, like a PowerMac G4 MDD that would crash during sleep (never could trace down that problem, it had nearly every component replaced by Apple), so maybe you should add "never" to your poll. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

Sleep. I haven't shutdown since Christmas. Just the occasional restart for a software update. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

| I sleep mine. My Mac mini doesn't like to shut down, as a matter of fact, it wont. When I try to shut down my mac from doing a OnyX cleanup, or software update, it sits on the blue screen with the wheel spinning. I don't know how to fix this, and hopefully the next firmware update will be the cure. I shut down/restart my mini once a week, hence I do an OnyX cleanup once a week. That is basically my only problem with my mac, and luckily it's not a big one. |

| I used to let mine sleep, but I now let it run all the time. OS X does maintenance at night. It won't do it if the unit is asleep. The mini is also very power friendly so it's not a big deal to me. |

What about decreasing the life of your mini? If I recall, you want to sell it right? |

I don't think it's an issue. I don't work the machine hard. Drives are replaceable and it is not likely that it will die within the life of the system. My mini is in a clean, smoke free environment.
I also have two good UPS's, the one the mini is plugged into also has power conditioning. This is probably much more important than putting the computer to sleep. |

Definately. It's not likely at all your machine will die on you. It's just you stated you wanted to sell your current machine, and get enough money to upgrade and get a new machine with Leopard and iLife '07. Drives are replaceable, and since your mini has treated you well for the time you've had it, I doubt anything bad will happen now. |

Do you use the internal 2.5" drive? |
