Ok guys, how much you spending on your wife or girlfriend this year? I'll probably spend around $100. Does that make me cheap? Laughing

We decided a few years ago that we just have a nice dinner together, either at a nice restaurant, or at home. Partly because as students we don't have much money, there's a lot of gift-giving events in a row this time of year (her birthday, Christmas, etc), plus we're not really big on the over-commercialization of every holiday here in the US.

I think you are better off being thoughtful on Valentines Day vs. Christmas. Christmas is a given. Valentines is your real opportunity to show that you care.

If I were married I'd do a series of sweet things for a week. Little notes etc. After all it's more important to show that you care. Flowers are still necessary though Smile

We're probably going to go out for a nice dinner, but not on the 14th, as we both work. Likely the following Saturday. I agree that these shouldn't be over-commercialized, and most people should know that it's not the amount of money you spend that shows how much you care.

At least, I'm glad me and my girlfriend share that view. Cool
