| I've seen many people talking about how great the transit is for digital audio so I bought one and ever since my upgrade to Tiger I have been having problems with it. It seems at random times the transit will just stop working, system preferences will pick up the device most of the time but not always. The only way I've found to fix this problem is to reboot the mac. This happens about once a day. Is anyone else experiencing this problem and has anyone figured out a way to fix it without having to reboot. Thanks. |

I don't have one, but I can suggest a few things you might want to try if they apply to your situation. First, if you are using a USB hub, remove your Transit from the hub and connect directly to port on the Mini. My PowerMac G5 has the external D-Link Bluetooth adaptor, and it works fine when plugged directly into the USB port on the machine, However, it works flakey when it was plugged into a Belkin USB hub. Other devices work just fine in the hub, just not the BT adaptor.
Second, if you are allowing your Mini to Sleep, you might want to try leaving it on all the time. _________________ Mac Pro Quad 2.66GHz, PowerMac G5 2.3 GHz, iMac Core Duo 17", MacBook Pro 2GHz, MacBook Pro 2.2GHz, Mac mini Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz. I'll second bsnoel. USB hubs can play tricks on some devices, and turn off Energy Saver mode all together. I noticed that M-Audio has some new drivers for the Transit released in May for Tiger. Have you updated your drivers? _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I just talked with m-audio and it turns out it is a common problem that they are working to fix but the fix is a ways off.
The transit is plugged directly into the mini, I don't even own a hub.
Thanks for the advice, I guess I'm stuck until they release new drivers or I save up for an imac. |

So it's only a Transit and Mini problem or is it a Transit and Tiger problem?
Either way, sorry to hear that it doesn't work right now. Oh, maybe 10.4.2 fixed it....? _________________ Computer Engineer

The quote from m-audio is:
"Concerning the quitting of the device is we have confirmed that this is indeed a bug and it will be fixed in a future driver release. As soon as an updated driver is available it will be posted to our site."
I would think this is a transit/tiger problem. The transit worked fine in Panther. So far I haven't had a problem with 10.4.2 but I've only been using it for a few hours. I'll post again after I have an uptime of a few days. Overall, 10.4.2 seems to be more stable than 10.4.1, so maybe that will help to fix the problem. |
