Where did you find such a good deal? |

I bought it at CompuSmart (Canada) it was in the clearance section.
I recommend you look at LaCies clearance corner section REGULARLY. They have very good prices.

Right now they have the 160GB LaCie mini for $99.
The 1TB big disk is $299. |

I bought mine new for $150 CDN. I should have bought 2 at the time. I wouldn't worry about the 90 day warranty or the quality. The case is built better than a Mac mini.
I will likely swap the 160GB drive for a 500GB drive when the prices come down. Even though there is no fan in these models I plan on doing it. My room never gets very hot living in Canada. You could also add a fan if you really wanted to. I see no need, with the aluminum enclosure unless you are really working the drive hard for extended periods of time. |

No, I don't really care if it has a fan or not. My room stays pretty cool, I mean c'mon...I'm in Wisconsin |

I saw that too. That LaCie mini at $119 does NOT have any USB ports. It is all Firewire. I nearly hit the big red button when I started poking around a bit at the specs and didn't see anything about USB. When I looked at the picture, there were 2 firewire ports and a power port. _________________ Folding for a cure for Team Mac OS X, the number one Mac Folding team in the world! |

That is fine for me. As far as I know, the LaCie Mini with hub is a bit more expensive, and I don't need a built in hub in my external drive. I am also glad it is firewire, i've heard this is faster than USB 2.0. |

Was just about to order the 160GB model from LaCie, but just found out that they discontinued that storage size.
They now have the 250GB model as the start capacity at $129.99. They still have the 160GB LaCie mini on the Apple Store, so i'll just buy it from there.
Just a heads up. |
