Roxio launches Toast 8 Titanium
Monday, January 8, 2007
Posted by: Glenn
Roxio today launched Toast 8 Titanium, a significant upgrade to its Mac disc burning software. Toast 8 brings TiVo and the Mac together for the first time, enabling users to enjoy their favorite TV programs on their Mac, burn them to disc, or easily convert them for viewing on a mobile device such as an iPod or PSP. Complementing the features of iTunes, Toast 8 enables users to apply professional-quality tools to create superior sounding audio CD mixes and music DVDs. Going beyond the burning options included in Mac OS X, Toast 8 introduces Blu-ray Disc burning, as well as automatic disc cataloging, cross-platform data spanning, and disc restoration.
"Toast revolutionized disc burning on the Mac, so it was the natural choice to help us bring TiVo to the platform," said Jim Denney, vice president, product marketing at TiVo. "Now, our two companies are taking that empowerment to the next level by extending TiVo's exclusive TiVoToGo feature to Mac users, giving them the ability to enjoy their favorite entertainment on the Mac, on DVD, and on-the-go."
Toast 8 Titanium is available now for $99.99. Owners of previous versions may be eligible for upgrade offers.

Cool! Very nice, have no idea if I will use it, but still, Toast is definately my favorite burning programme. Will keep on using 7.0 for the time being though... _________________ ___________________Jim©

Those are some great additions to an already great program. For now I agree with James, I'll probably be fine with 7 for now. Though when I finally upgrade my Mac I'll definitely get this. _________________

"This is an upgrade version of Toast 8 Titanium and requires a prior version of Toast 7 Titanium, Jam 6, or Popcorn 2. The software will look for an eligible prior version, or you will need to enter your prior version product key." _________________ MBP 2.4 C2D; 4GB

I have toast 7 and love it. But the new custom DVD menus/background features in toast 8 sold me! I mainly use toast to make killer DVDs from my HD eyeTV recordings and now the menus wont suck!
ordered it today for $52 after rebate w/ some help from fatwallet .... _________________ 4GB iPod Nano

| Buy.com has it for $38 after two rebates, through tomorrow. Still not nudging me to buy. Transcoding from HD to DVD just takes too long. I'd rather chuck them to hard drives or just burn as data files. Until they support Blu-Ray or HD-DVD video formats, it isn't worth the move. |
