Apple Releases iChat Update 1.0

Apple has released iChat Update 1.0 via Mac OS X's Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, this update renews the .Mac certificate required by iChat for encrypting text, audio, and video conferences. Apple also notes that more information will be posted as it becomes available. The update for Intel-based Macs can be found here (3.9MB). The update for PPC-based Macs can be found here (2.3MB).

That's very possible - but why now? Why not at the same time as MacWorld? Steve seems more likely to say, "Today we have released an update for the phone that you can download right now" rather than, "remember that update for iChat last week? Well that was for the phone"
