Adobe Releases Beta Version of Photoshop CS3
Thursday, December 14, 2006
Posted by: Brian
Adobe has announced it will introduce a beta version of Adobe Photoshop CS3, the next release of its digital imaging software, on Friday, December 15th. Adobe is delivering a widely available Photoshop CS3 beta to enable customers to more easily transition to the latest hardware platforms, particularly Apple's new Intel-based systems. The beta is available as a Universal Binary for the Macintosh platform, as well as for Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista computers.
The Photoshop CS3 beta also includes a pre-release version of a major upgrade to Adobe Bridge, as well as a preview release of the all-new Adobe Device Central, which allows users to design, preview, and test compelling mobile content, created specifically for smaller screens. The final shipping release of Adobe Photoshop CS3 is planned for Spring 2007.

The transition to the dark side is almost complete.
I saw a video of the new CS3 interface and it looks cool. |

The CS3 beta runs great on my Mac mini, but what's up with these new icons from Adobe? _________________ 14" 1.25GHz G4 iBook (died)

I know what you mean, the icons are the worst design I have ever seen. They must be "beta-cons". I can't believe how fast it runs. It opens 5-6 times faster than CS2, and I have 80% of my ram dedicated to Photoshop CS2. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

Well, the icons are nice and simple - definitely a change from the old ones on CS and CS2.
Believe it or not, there is already a patch out there for this - saw it on digg I think ... _________________ Mac mini 1.66Ghz, 1GB RAM, Bose Companion 5 Speakers, Sony XBRITE 19"; iMac Indigo Slot-Loading, 500Mhz G3, 512MB

New icons for PS CS3:

Oh and Photoshop CS3 is a speed demon on my MBP. It will launch in under three seconds, whereas CS2 took a solid minute. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

So you think there are people out there who will fork out more for an upgrade than their Mac is worth ?
Or have I misunderstood your comment ? |

That is really fast!
Is this with the initial launch? 12-15 seconds is about the best I can muster with my 2.16GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro with 1gig. My 1.83GHz Mac mini with 2gig does about the same. |

Initial launch is about the same as yours, maybe a tad faster. Relaunch is where I see the really fast launches.
I also store Photoshop on an external Firewire drive, so that may give it a little speed boost. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external
