MacMini Portable MkIII Project
Friday, November 3, 2006
Posted by: Brian
This is definitely the week of cool Mac mini mods. Our old friend Peter Green has posted some information about his Mac mini Portable MkIII Project. The MMP MkIII is powered by a 1.5GHz Core Solo Mac mini and features a custom plastic enclosure. According to Peter, "The MMP MkIII is the same height (or a little slimmer) than the original Mac mini by Apple, it's been made a little wider for extra electronics and being ergonomically better to hold." The MMP MkIII also features an integrated 8" touch screen display, and a Li-ion cell that gives it around three hours of battery life. I suggest that you head on over to Peter's site and check out the rest of the details. There are some nice pictures showing the entire project from start to finish.

it's cool, but i don't know how that guy can see anything he's doing
it looks like a blank screen to me
if he could get a nice bright LCD in there, it'd be the cat's pajamas |

I can't help thinking that buying a macbook would have been better
However I'd like to find out what that keyboard is that he's using. |

Good question. I thought it was just a knock-off Happy Hacking board at first glance, but it also appears to be wireless. _________________ 14" 1.25GHz G4 iBook (died)

Thats what im thinking too. Also makes me realize how cool a macbook would be tablet-style with an apposable touch screen. _________________ Core 2 duo 2.0 Mini on a 26" Sharp LC-26GD4U GO CANES!!!! |

It's good to see he's got "The Last Detail" playing on there! _________________ _________________

I've been looking for a small bluetooth keyboard and haven't found one as neat as that. Although it might NOT be BT it might be 'radio' with a USB dongle in the back of the macmini
The best one I've found has a built-in trackball but can no longer be sold in the UK (or anywhere in the EU) due to recent laws about components used (darnit!!) |

That is a pretty nice project. It would be nice if they polished it up a little more. _________________
