| Engadget wrote: | | So now we've gotten word that the gang in Cupertino are working on a Mac Pro that will boast eight cores (call it octo-core, if you must) -- packing two Clovertown quad-core chips. Of course, this doesn't really seem all that much of a surprise given that this was already done over a month ago by our buds at Anandtech. But AppleInsider says that this new bump could happen "any time after mid Nov." for the Mac Pro line. Of course, most Apple rumors should normally be taken with a hefty dose of sodium chloride, but given that we've seen that no additional hardware or software tweaks are required to make the Mac Pro run properly with eight cores, it would seem that this is firmly within the realm of possibility. That is, assuming you have the hefty wad of cash that this will no doubt demand, and that Intel can produce enough supply in the near future. |

I've seen screen shots of this a while back, it was tested and worked perfectly when upgrading the Mac pro with two quads. _________________ MacMini 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

It's inevitable that Apple will build an Octo-core Mac Pro at some point, though I tend to think not yet.
I ordered a Mac Pro 13 days ago and it didn't ship until Thursday because they were out of stock on the standard 2.66 config..
If they can sell that many with dual duos why bump it up so soon ? |

It still would be nice though.
Man, that could possibly be the most expensive Mac if fully loaded _________________

I think since the Mac Pro is Apple's flag ship computer they'll release it in MacWorld '07 or WWDC '07. _________________ - MacBook Pro, 15inch, 2.4GHz, 2GB, 160GB HDD, SuperDrive. I Love this Mac!!!!

I've always thought MacWorld was more of the OS and consumer products event. _________________
