Has anyone here ordered one of the new shuffles? When are they going to start shipping out. I want to buy one for a gift before the 25th.

they ship out on the 31st...I ordered one, thinking "hey, I bet they release them for shipment around mid-month...payday for some."

I was wrong!

I'm a sucker for aluminum and white colored gear. I might buy one after the reviews start to come out. Plus, that little dock looks super cool. I still have my fingers crossed for Aple to release the 6G before Christmas though.

I like the new shuffles design. Just wish they had more color options like the nanos.

I'm a sucker for black electronics. If there was a standard black Mac Mini or shuffle... I'd be in debt with a max'd credit card.

BTW, I've been eyeing that black iPod nano.

Why would you want the black Nano if you can get a black Video for the same price with more of everything? Cool Is it the size? The coolness? I'm at a loss. I figured the 8Gb Nano was going to be the worst seller of the bunch because of the price.

Because it's aluminum, very small, much better battery life and it's not glossy anymore. Plus I had a 5G iPod, video on it was pointless to me. However I do have about 25GB of music on my Mini, though I only listen to about 4GB of that total regularly.

It was cool at first, but it grew old because of the small screen. I would like to see the 6G have a sceen at least as big as the Sony PSP.

I'll admit, when that one comes out, I'll be first in line.

I'll be right behind you. Wink

I just hope the thing is solid and the screen is more durable than the 5G, especially if they go the touchscreen route. Apple's track record with reliability and durability hasn't been that great lately. Actually, we might be better off letting some of the early adaptors get their hands on it first. Nah!!!!

Getting back on topic about the ship date for the new shuffles. I read this tonight on iLounge.

I think the best thing they could do is make the whole thing aluminum like the other iPods. Make the screen slightly recessed and have a stronger scratch resistant screen.

That is a MUST if they go with a touchscreen. The plastic on my 5G's screen is too soft. My 3G's screen is like a tank! I also like the idea of an all anodized aluminum body.

To be honest, I would rather see the 6G have a layout and screen like the Zune instead of a touchscreen.

Yeah, there would be a lot of sales in iPod screen cleaner!

One of the nice things about the Click Wheel is that it offers some non-visual feedback. Meaning I can control my iPod by feeling the wheel and select button without really looking at them. A touchscreen wouldn't give you that same feel.

This is a good point, especially if the iPod is in your pocket.
