| I can't speak directly for the 24" iMac, but sitting in front of a 24" Dell LCD with my Mac mini at 1920 x 1200 (same as the 24" iMac) is absolutely wonderful. I don't believe 24" displays are too big to sit in front of because of their higher native resolutions. |

I've used one for a while. It seems obnoxious at first, but after a while you get use to it. Then when you must depart from it... you miss the real estate, big time. I think it also depends on what kind of settings you are going to use it in also. I use my Mini in my bedroom, so a 24" would be too obtrusive. But on a sit down desk or even in the living room, I'd gladly use one. _________________

I can believe iMac 24" displays would be too big. Unlike your Dell or the ACD it isn't svelte. The surround doesn't look incongruous on the 17 or 20" but no way would I want a surround that large on a 24". YMMV _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb

After a while you miss the screen more than the bulk of the machine. Yeah it is enormous, but the screen is beautiful. Like I said before, I think it depends on where you would keep it. _________________

On second thought... you know what would help make it look less enormous. If you got it painted by ColorWare or something. Especially in a black, it would just seem smaller, mainly in the dark. But I just think a colored iMac looks better than the original white one (my opinion).

What would look good would be not having that surround. It's big enough to house a Mac Pro _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb

Yeah, we all know they could fit everything behind the 24" screen. But we all know that they made it this way to keep the iMac look. _________________

Is it thinner/as thin as the current 17 and 20 inchers? It should be at least the same thickness because even though the screen is bigger and thicker, the parts can be spread out and reconfigured in there to keep it thin....
EDIT: Nope, thicker too.... hmmmm. |

You would have thought... they could have figured a way... to fit everything in the back... so it looks like a ACD. _________________

That's a really good point, I had not thought of that! there must be enought space behind that big screen for them to put all the drives and such, especially if it is thicker like jbstingray says. Hmm, a missed design opportunity? _________________ mac mini coreduo 1.66ghz. 1.25gb 60gb HD

Thicker is not that surprising, they have an aesthetic consideration and it's probably larger in proportion to the screen size. _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb
