As a fan of Cover Flow (the original program), I'm dissapointed for two reasons,
1) Windows users will get to have it now
and 2) For some reason instead of grouping all albums together whether or not they have the same artists (compilations, anyone?) the way Cover Flow did, it puts the album art on their for each different artist. While some of you may like that (whatever) I would love an option that let show album art the same way Cover Flow REALLY did.
In short: Its nicely integrated but it needs more options, like Cover Flow originally did.
That's just my rant. _________________ As of June 2007: traded the 20" low-end aluminum iMac for a 24" high-end previous-generation white iMac. Performs better all-around. |

I personally liked the green icon better, but it's all good. | Oh yeah... I still like my iTunes icon... the black iTunes icon _________________

You can always change the icon I hear ya though, I don't care for the new blue look either. I really hate the dark blue highlights in the Source List (sidebar). The brushed metal look will always be my favorite. Putting the blues aside, the new features in iTunes are awesome. There is a ton of new stuff to play around with. I'm just so happy about reverse sync feature and album art. I always thought those features should be built into iTunes. How is Cover Flow working out on the Intel minis? It seems a little pokey on my G4 loading up the artwork. |

I assume Apple bought the rights to CoverFlow from the original designers? Or did they do a Konfabulator/Widget thing?
I hate it when little guys with great ideas lose out.
NB the original release of Coverflow was free until September so maybe this was planned way back? _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb

Good to hear - wonder if they'll get an attack of conscience and compensate the Konfabulator guys ... probably not. _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb

Didn't Yahoo buy and employ the Konfab guys? Not the best situation but they are gainfully employed now. _________________ | Mac mini 2011 | Apple Thunderbolt Display | Apple keyboard and Magic TrackPad | 2Tb Time Capsule | Apple TV (3) | iPhone 4s |

I'm having a weird situation where I installed iTunes on my 1.4 G4 Tower at work (with only a 16MB graphics card) and a 17" Sony display and the app works great. Only 200 songs but Coverflow, etc. are perfect. When I installed in on my 1.42 G4 Mini at home with my 20" Apple Display, it was a disaster. Screen wouldn't redraw properly if at all, and Coverflow was a big white box. When I reset Display Prefs to thousands of colors, things were better but still not as good as work. What's up with this? Is the card in the mini with 32MB of dedicated vram not enough to handle iTunes now? I was thinking of getting a new Mini and a 23" screen but with the shared vram I am all of sudden looking at the new iMac instead.
I assume it's a bug that Apple will fix via 7.0.1, but it's still an eye opener. |

It's your metadata that's incorrect. Simply select the tracks and enable the "compilation" tag. I had quite a few albums that didn't have the correction compilation tag, too.
Why it acts that way is pretty simple: you could have two artists with exactly the same album name (but not part of a compilation album). |

No problem at all on my Mac mini here (G4/1.42GHz, 1GB RAM, 1280x1024@24bpp). |

My screen res at home is 1650 x ?. The work display is the same as yours. It might just be too much for the mini to handle. The only other difference is that at work I deleted all artwork before upgrading to test the new iTunes artwork download. At home, I left all the artwork in place. When I get home I'm going to delete all that artwork and see if it makes a difference (embedded vs. referenced). Might be slowing things down. |

Doh! I didn't think about the icon in Front Row. Anyone have the green version of MusicIcon.png? _________________ 14" 1.25GHz G4 iBook (died)

I'm running the mini in my sig with integrated Intel graphics and the covers flow very smoothly at 1680x1050. It did get a little jerky when it was fetching and assigning the art work, but it has been buttery smooth every time since, and being a complete dork I spent a lot of time just zooming through my artwork last night
I was worried about the Intel graphics when I saw this feature, but once again Apple impresses me. Also remember that 10.4.8 support multi-threaded OpenGL so the mini should get an additional boost in that area as well when it releases (seeded to testerrs last week).
I wish I was at home to flip some covers now, I got all of my missing art corrected last night up through the letter R. _________________ | Mac mini 2011 | Apple Thunderbolt Display | Apple keyboard and Magic TrackPad | 2Tb Time Capsule | Apple TV (3) | iPhone 4s |
